Announcing new Custom Plates ‘Keep it on the Track’ ambassador Melinda Price
Custom Plates is proud to announce Melinda Price as our newest ‘Keep it on the Track” ambassador, coinciding with an inspirational return to top tier racing in the Touring Car Masters Series.
Melinda had forged herself a very successful racing career, getting her start in go karts before reaching the highest of Australian and international motorsport events including two Nurburgring 24 hour races, two Sandown 500s and five Bathurst 1000 drives - most memorably in the all female Castrol Cougars Commodore in 1997.
As fate would have it, training for gruelling endurance races gave her the grit and determination she needed to attack what life threw at her.
Melinda was forced to put her fledgling career on the backburner as life presented her with a new challenge; being a single mother to her daughter Lily, whilst battling breast cancer.
With life balancing to a new level of normal and her recovery now well behind her, Melinda can now once again focus on beating lap times and racing door handle to door handle with other Australian motor racing legends in the Touring Car Masters series in her Falcon XA GT sedan.
"It’s been a long road, but I’m ecstatic about being back out there mixing it up with the guys.”
When she is not out in her race car, Melinda is very active in the area of Advanced Driver training, working alongside major manufacturers like Mercedes Benz to deliver expert education to Victorian drivers of all abilities.
“Driver safety is an area in which I feel very strongly about, whether I’m on the track or on the road. As a mother I have a deep feeling that everyone I share the road with has family and friends waiting and expecting them to walk through the door at the end of the day,” explains Melinda, “Everybody on the road deserves to get to their destination. Ongoing education of drivers goes a long way to achieving that outcome.”
Melinda has an incredible story and an outlook to road safety that every person at VicRoads holds as our number one priority. We’re a great match and excited to support Melinda as she returns back to the track.
The ‘Keep it on the Track’ and off the streets message has recently been promoted at Victorian Drift car events, and supporting two time Australian Superbike champion Josh Waters and Dunlop series V8 supercars driver Taz Douglas.
Melinda’s first start in the Touring Car Masters category is this weekend supporting the V8 supercars round at Winton Raceway. We wish Melinda the very best for her upcoming race!
