Competition Entry Terms and Conditions

1. Competition and Promoter
1.1. By entering the ‘Custom Plates Formula 1® Heineken® Australian Grand Prix 2022 – Grandstand Tickets Competition’ (‘Competition’) and in consideration for the opportunity to participate in the Competition, each Entrant agrees to be bound by and observe these Competition Entry Terms and Conditions. Information on how to enter and details of the prize form part of these Competition Entry Terms and Conditions.
1.2. The promoter of the Competition is the Department of Transport (ABN 69 981 208 782) of Level 21, 1 Spring Street Melbourne, Victoria 3000 (‘Promoter’).
1.3 The Formula 1® Heineken® Australian Grand Prix 2022 is scheduled to be held from 7 - 10 April 2022 inclusive (‘Event’).
1.4 The Organiser of the Event is the Australian Grand Prix ABN 86 947 927 465 PO Box 577, South Melbourne Victoria 3205 Australia. (‘Organiser’).
2. Who may enter?
2.1. Subject to paragraph 2.2, entry into the Competition is open to all residents of Victoria aged 18 and over.
2.2. Employees and immediate family members of employees of the Promoter or the Promoter’s associated agencies are not eligible to enter the Competition. For the purposes of these Competition Entry Terms and Conditions, immediate family means any of the following: spouse, ex-spouse, de-facto spouse, child or stepchild (whether natural or by adoption), parent, stepparent, grandparent, step-grandparent, uncle, aunt, niece, nephew, brother, sister, stepbrother, stepsister or first cousin.
2.3. The Promoter will not accept any joint Entry.
3. Competition Period
3.1. The Competition commences at 9.00am Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST) on Tuesday 1st March 2022 and closes at 11:59pm AEST on Tuesday 15th March 2022 (Competition Period).
3.2. Entries not received during the Competition Period or not submitted in accordance with these Competition Entry Terms and Conditions will not be eligible to win. Entries are deemed to be received at the time they are received by the Promoter via the entry form in paragraph 4.1 and not at the time of submission by the Entrant. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for late, lost, incomplete, incorrectly submitted, delayed, illegible, corrupted or misdirected entries, whether due to error, omission, alteration, tampering, deletion, theft, destruction, transmission interruption, communications failure or otherwise.
3.3. The Promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion to cancel the Competition at any time before the winning Entrant (‘Prize Winner’) is notified.
4. How to enter
4.1. Entry into this Competition is only available through the Competition webpage, https://vplates.com.au/competitions/2022-GP-Tickets-Competition.
4.2. To enter this Competition, you must complete the Competition entry form by:
- entering your first name, surname, email address and telephone number;
- agreeing to these Competition Entry Terms and Conditions; and
- answering the following question in 25 words or less: “What custom plate style do you think your favourite GP driver would have, and why? (‘Competition Question’).
4.3. In these Competition Entry Terms and Conditions, an Entrant is defined as a person who completes and submits a completed Competition entry form (‘Entry’) via the Competition webpage (‘Entrant’).
4.4 Each Entrant is limited to one entry only for the Competition. Any subsequent entries submitted by an Entrant will be automatically disqualified from the Competition.
5. Promoter may reject an Entry
5.1. Entries that are determined in the Promoter’s sole and absolute discretion, to contain offensive, defamatory or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate material will be invalid. This includes, but is not limited to, any entry which the Promoter considers to be disparaging to the Promoter, the Organiser, the Organiser’s products and/or services or is otherwise not in keeping with the spirit of the Competition
6. Selection and notification
6.1. At the end of the Competition Period, all Entries will be judged by the Promoter and one Entry will be declared the winner.
6.2. Judging will be conducted by the Promoter on Thursday 17th March 2022 at 60 Denmark Street, Kew, Victoria, 3101. The winning Entry (Prize Winner) will be the Entry judged by the Promoter in the Promoter’s sole and absolute discretion to be the most creative answer to the Competition Question.
6.3. The Promoter’s decision in relation to any and all aspects of the Competition is final and no correspondence will be entered into about the Promoter’s decision in respect of the Competition.
6.4. The Prize Winner will be notified on Friday 18 March 2022 by email or telephone call using the details supplied in the Entry.
6.5. All Entrants agree to provide the Promoter with identification and/or proof of age if selected as the Prize Winner. The form of identification and/or proof of age required in each case will be in the sole discretion of the Promoter.
6.6 The Prize Winner will be notified by telephone and an email from the Promoter. The Prize Winner must acknowledge receipt of that email by return email by 5.00pm AEST Friday 25th March 2022 (Due Date). If the Promoter does not receive an email from the Prize Winner acknowledging the award of the Prize by the Due Date, the Promoter will select a Replacement Prize Winner.
6.7 The Promoter will notify a Replacement Prize Winner by telephone and email of the award of a Prize on Monday 28 March 2022. A Replacement Prize Winner must acknowledge receipt of the Promoter’s email by 5.00pm AEST on Thursday 31 March 2022 (Acknowledgement Date).
6.8 If the Promoter does not receive an email from a Replacement Prize Winner by the Acknowledgement Date, the Promoter may select another Replacement Prize Winner until the Prize is awarded in accordance with these Competition Terms and Conditions.
7. Prize
7.1. The Prize Winner, in accordance with these Competition Entry Terms and Conditions, will win
(a) (2) 4-day tickets to the Stewart Grand Stand at the Formula 1® Heineken® Australian Grand Prix 2022 (7-10 April 2022), valued at AU$684 (Tickets); and
(b) 1 x AU$695 Custom Plates voucher (‘Voucher’, together, the ‘Prize’).
7.2. The estimated value of the Prize is AU$1,379 (including GST). No part of the Prize is transferable or exchangeable. The Prize is not redeemable for cash and must be accepted as offered. The Voucher may be applied toward the cost of a more expensive Custom Plate. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any variation in the value of any part of the Prize between the commencement of the Competition and the date the Prize is redeemed.
7.3. The Tickets will be provided by the Organiser direct to the Prize Winner or Replacement Prize Winner and the Promoter has no obligation or responsibility whatsoever in connection with the actions or inactions of the Organiser in that provision.
7.4 The Voucher will be provided by the Promoter.
7.5 The Promoter does not accept any financial liability in any way and will not be responsible in the event the Tickets is not provided to the Prize Winner or Replacement Prize Winner due to:
(a) cancellation or variation of the Event;
(b) any government restriction on the attendance numbers at the Event; or
(d) any other reason beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter.
8. Receiving the Prize
8.1. The Voucher will be posted by the Promoter to the Prize Winner by registered mail on Monday 28 March 2022, unless the Prize Winner is a Replacement Prize Winner.
8.2 The Promoter accepts no responsibility for a Prize Winner’s or Replacement Prize Winner’s failure to receive a Prize or any part of a Prize due to an error or omission of the Prize Winner or Replacement Prize Winner, or any alteration, tampering with, theft or destruction of the Prize or any action or inaction by Australia Post once it has been posted by the Promoter to the Prize Winner’s or Replacement Prize Winner’s nominated mailing address.
8.3. The Organiser has agreed with the Promoter to email the Tickets to the Prize Winner to the email address in the Prize Winner’s or Replacement Prize Winner’s Entry in time for the Prize Winner or Replacement Prize Winner to attend the Event.
8.4. The Promoter accepts no responsibility if:
(a) the Organiser fails to provide the Tickets and/or email it to the Prize Winner or Replacement Prize Winner; or
(b) the Prize Winner or Replacement Prize Winner does not receive the Tickets due to error or omission in the Prize Winner’s Entry or any alteration, tampering with, theft or destruction of the Tickets once it has been emailed.
8.5. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for the Prize after it is emailed to the Prize Winner or Replacement Prize Winner.
9. Information for Prize Winner
9.1. By submitting an Entry, the Prize Winner or Replacement Prize Winner is taken to have agreed to comply with the Conditions of Entry to the Event, Attendance Conditions to the Event available at http://www.grandprix.com.au and displayed at entrances to the Event.
9.2. The Prize Winner and Replacement Prize Winner expressly acknowledge the following in the Conditions of Entry to the Event:
WARNING – MOTOR RACING, THE EVENT AND ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATED WITH THE EVENT (INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, SUPPORT EVENTS) ARE DANGEROUS AND ACCIDENTS CAN HAPPEN. THERE IS A POSSIBILITY OF AN ACCIDENT CAUSING INJURY, DEATH OR PROPERTY DAMAGE OR ECONOMIC LOSS.
9.3. The Prize Winner and Replacement Prize Winner acknowledge and agree that the Promoter is not responsible for, or connected with the delivery of the Event, and that the Promoter is not liable for any loss or damage that may be suffered by the Prize Winner or Replacement Prize Winner as a result of the using the Tickets.
9.4 The Prize Winner and Replacement Prize Winner agrees that spending money, meals and all other ancillary costs incurred as a result of accepting and using the Tickets (including, without limitation, transport to and from the Event, airline and/or airport taxes and transfers, where applicable) are not included in the Prize and remain the responsibility of the Prize Winner or Replacement Prize Winner.
9.5. Associated Entities will not be liable for any loss (including, without limitation, indirect, special or consequential loss or loss of profits), expense, damage, personal injury or death which is suffered or sustained (whether or not arising from any person’s negligence) by any person in connection with this promotion or accepting or using the Tickets, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law (in which case that liability is limited to the minimum allowable by law).
9.6. Associated Entities means the Crown in right of the State of Victoria, the Minister administering the Australian Grands Prix Act 1994 (Vic), the Minister administering the Crown Land (Reserves) Act 1978 (Vic), Federation Internationale de l’Automobile, Formula One Marketing Limited, Formula One Management Limited, Formula One World Championship Limited, Formula One Asset Management Limited, Formula One Hospitality and Event Services Limited (UK), Formula One Licensing B.V., Confederation of Australian Motor Sport Ltd, Allsport Management S.A., Parks Victoria, the State Sport Centres Trust, APP Corporation Pty Limited and all other persons involved in the conduct, promotion and organisation of the Event and the Australian Grand Prix, including officials, marshals, rescue, medical staff, the competitors and drivers (such parties to include where relevant all directors, officers, employees, agents, contractors and affiliated companies and their respective personnel, and assigns).
“Suppliers” also includes suppliers of infrastructure and other equipment used to enable the Event to take place, as well as sponsors of the Event.
10. Consent to collection and use of Personal Details
10.1. By entering the Competition and supplying the details as required on the Entry, each Entrant agrees to the Promoter collecting and using the Entrant’s personal information for the purposes of contacting the Entrant about the outcome of, or any marketing activities or programs associated with, the Competition.
10.2. The information collected in paragraph 10.1 may be used or disclosed as authorised or required by the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic) or in accordance with the Promoter’s privacy policy at www.vplates.com.au/privacy including to any third parties, persons and organisations authorised by the Promoter for the purposes of paragraph 10.1. Where these organisations and persons are located outside Victoria, the Entrant consents to his or her personal information being transferred outside of Victoria.
