If you spot Marvin the Martian calmly riding shotgun somewhere around Wendouree... you're not imagining things.
For Geoff, his custom plate story is equal parts science fiction, childhood nostalgia and perfect timing.
Geoff’s love of sci-fi goes way back.
"As a kid, I was completely obsessed with Space: 1999," he says. “I collected everything — merchandise, fan club memberships... the lot."
So when the chance came up, he locked in GT.1999 — a simple but meaningful nod to both his initials and the show that left such a big impression.
But that was only the beginning.
For his 50th birthday, Geoff was gifted something special: a set of Marvin the Martian custom plates.
"As a Looney Tunes fan, Marvin has always been my favourite — sorry Bugs and Daffy."
There was just one problem.
"At the time, I was driving a very old car… and it just didn’t feel right putting these plates on it."
So he waited.
And waited. Until the moment was right.
That moment arrived on Geoff’s 60th birthday, when a brand-new car became part of the celebration — finally worthy of Marvin taking pride of place.
And Marvin? He didn’t stop at the number plate.
"He's also a permanent passenger in the back seat," Geoff says. "It definitely makes people look twice when they pass by."
From a childhood obsession with sci-fi to a backseat Martian turning heads on the road, GT.1999 proves that sometimes the best plates are the ones that carry your story with you — wherever you go.
