Special Interest plates - replacements only
The below 'Special Interest' plates are no longer available for purchase as a new issue. This means that if you own one of these particular plates, you are only able to purchase a replacement plate(s) if required.

Bicentennial plates

Bicentennial plates were made especially to celebrate Australia's bicentennial anniversary. Two hundred plates were made, each representing a year from 1788 to 1988. Bicentennial plates were sold by tender and are not available for new issue, they can only be issued as a replacement plate in standard size.
Bicentennial plates were issued in the following range; 1788 to 1988 and they display two emblems, one on the left is the Victorian State Crest and the emblem on the right is the Bicentennial map of Australia logo. As there were only 196 plates available in this range, 4 other combinations were included; 1606, 1616, 1642 and 1770.
Penny the Little Penguin plates

A plate featuring the FINA world Swimming Championships mascot "Penny the Little Penguin", commemorate the Melbourne 2007 FINA World Swimming Championships and to help protect the Little Penguins. Only1,000 limited edition plates were available.
The commemorative plates series was issued in the range M07.000 to M07.999 and in standard size only.
Commemorative plates

Commemorative plates were made to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the founding of Victoria and were launched in 1984-1985. The commemorative plates were issued in the range 000.V to 999.V and 000.C to 999.C and they display the 150th year logo in blue and green on the left of the plate. The commemorative plates are only available in standard size.
Centenary of Federation plates

Centenary of Federation plates were released to commemorate the anniversary of Federation Australia. The plates reflect the two most significant dates in the Centenary of Federation;
- 1901 - the year Australia's six colonies joined together to become the Commonwealth of Australia.
- 2001 - the 100 year anniversary of the Commonwealth of Australia.
Centenary of Federation plates were available in the following range, in standard size only;
- 00.1901 to 99.1901
- 1901.00 to 1901.99
- 00.2001 to 99.2001
- 2001.00 to 2001.99
The plates display the Centenary of Federation logo and colours which reflect the Australian landscape, with the Victorian State Government logo in the top right corner.
Commonwealth Games 2006 "Karak" plates

Commonwealth Games 2006 "Karak" plates were produced to commemorate the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games, and to raise funds to assist with saving the Red Tailed Black Cockatoo, which is an endangered species.
These plates were issued in the range M06.000 to M06.999, in standard size only and they feature a cartoon represenation of the Commonwealth Games mascot "Karak".
Mansfield - Mount Buller plates

Mansfield - 'Mount Buller The High Country' plates were issued in the series 000.SNO to 199.SNO and feature an image of a mountain and snowfields as the separator. These plates are available in standard and slimline size.
Victorian Olympians on the Move plates

Victorian Olympians on the move plates were produced to raise funds for Victorians competing in Olympic Games events. The plates were issued in the series 0000.V to 9999.V and feature the Australian flag and Olympic rings symbol on the left of the plate. These plates are available for replacement in standard size only.
Australian Football league plates

Original football club plates were offered for six teams in standard size only:
- Carlton football club, issued in the series CFC.00 to CFC.99
- Collingwood football club, issued in the series 00.CFC to 99.CFC
- Essendon football club, issued in the series EFC.00 to EFC.99
- Footscray football club, issued in the series FFC.00 to FFC.99
- Melbourne football club, issued in the series MFC.0 to MFC.9 and MFC.00 to MFC.99
- Richmond football club, issued in the series RFC.00 to RFC.99
Gippsland plates

Gippsland plates were issued in the series 000.GIP to 999.GIP and feature the Gippsland logo as the separator. The Gippsland plate is only available for replacement in standard size.
Rotary Club plates

Rotary Club plates were issued in the series R.0000 to R.9999 and display the club logo on the left of the plate. Rotary Club plates can only be assigned to club members or their spouse. This plate is available for replacement in standard size only.
Mountain Cattlemens Association plates

MCA plates were issued in the series 000.MCA to 099.MCA and are available for replacement in standard and slimline size. The plates also display the association logo on the left side of the plate.
Toyota plates

Toyota pates are available for replacement in standard size only.
